You are a princess lost in a dangerous forest. You are waiting for a prince on a white horse. At the same time, a witch is after your life. What should you be most wary of? The witch?
The most dangerous thing is “the witch disguised as a prince on a white horse.” If the witch isn’t a fool, they won’t come riding a broomstick wearing a pointed hat and cape. The witch will find a white horse somewhere, disguise themselves as a prince, and appear. Then, you will think that the prince you’ve been waiting for has finally appeared and greet them with joy. That is the moment you are captured by the witch.
This kind of thing happens countless times in our lives. The first thing a con artist does is always “build trust” with their target. They will do anything for that. They embellish their appearance, flaunt their degrees and jobs, show off their nice house and car, and boast about their connections with celebrities. They are always kind, cheerful, and generous with money. Once the con artist becomes a “benefactor” to their prey, the hunt is already in its final stages.
That’s why, in retrospect, we often discover that the greatest wounds in our lives were always inflicted by the people we liked the most, and the happiest things came from completely unexpected people. Therefore, the people we should be most wary of are among those we currently like, admire, and support the most.
Off-white refers to white that has a slightly yellowish tint when compared side-by-side with pure white. However, when off-white is next to black, it appears to be a brilliant white. This “error of human sensory sensation” is the devil’s favorite prey.
If the devil went around with a red, muscular body, a hideous horned face, and a trident, no one would fall for it. As it is written in the Bible, “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light,” the devil always approaches us in a form that we would be enthusiastic about. They appear as an angel wearing white clothes. But those white clothes are not “white,” but “off-white.” Therefore, the devil simultaneously sets up black-clad accomplices so that they can appear as “pure white.”
It’s like the men who frequently appear in old movies, who buy off thugs to win a woman’s favor and then suddenly appear and act like heroes. This is like Yoon Seok-yeol fighting against Choo Mi-ae, the anti-Moon Jae-in alliance fighting against Moon Jae-in, Obama fighting against the shadow government, and Trump fighting against the deep state. The conspicuously black (evil) things we see in the world are mostly just “bought-off thugs.” This is not to say we should just leave the thugs alone. Thugs certainly need to be eradicated. However, we should be wary of those who suddenly appear. We must realize that in many cases, thugs and heroes have a behind-the-scenes transactional relationship.
So, what is the way to confront the devil’s ultimate weapon, “off-white”? How can we distinguish off-white that is intentionally presented after the whole world has been painted black? Increasing knowledge and not trusting the media can be temporary solutions, but they are not the ultimate solution. There is only one ultimate way to distinguish off-white: compare it side-by-side with pure white. Then it becomes immediately obvious.
Where can we find pure white? I know of two places, one of which is each of our consciences. The conscience in our hearts, which has been whispering almost inaudible opposing opinions against the greed, lust, inferiority, pride, exaggeration, and lies that constantly spring up within us, which we have tried so hard to ignore, is pure white.
If the voice of your conscience has become too small to hear, let’s start listening from this moment. And let’s speak and act accordingly. If your conscience says in a small voice that something is “not right,” no matter how much you want to do it, don’t do it. If you secure this pure white standard in your sight, you will be able to distinguish any “off-white” that approaches. In fact, the reason we are deceived by off-white is because we ourselves are more yellowish or black than off-white.
